For our next event we are doing something special. Two friends who’ve been joining us for almost every single OPIUM we did from the start are going away for a year to Australia. That’s when we decided to give them a propper farewell party. You’ve probably already guessed the theme of the night… Let's make a little trip overseas and go down under, to the land of koala’s, kangaroo’s, aboriginals, angry dad and Crocodile Dundee! We transform club Vaag in a basement full of Australian opiumvibes!!! Dress up as you want, we'll deliver some nice decoration and great music. For this edition we've invited a girl from Manchester, now living, producing and dj-ing in London. Picked up by Workshop Records, we proudly present you our night with Willow!!!!
JOIN US, LET'S SPREAD SOME OPIUMVIBES!!
Being picked up for her first ever release by esteemed German imprint Workshop is an impressive feat, and a sure sign that Willow is on her way to big things after first appearing as one of the standout tracks on Move D's brilliant 'fabric 74' mix CD. When Workshop 21 dropped last year, it was hard not to be intrigued by Willow, the Manchester producer, real name Sophie Wilson, who made her debut with that record's A1, "Feel Me". It's a brilliantly skewed house cut that sounds like a stretched out Florian Kupfer track that's been submerged in the ocean. Sultry, thumping and surprisingly catchy, it was one of the most memorable tracks ever released on Workshop. And yet, "Feel Me" revealed only a portion of Wilson's sound. Her second release is a solo release. All tracks on Workshop 23 are built on sparse rhythms and thick sub-bass, but aside from that they're all quite different. The production on all four tracks is beautifully dark and smooth, each as addictive in its own way. The fact that she's also a very skilled DJ isn’t a coincidence either, holding down a residency with clubnight 808 where she regularly matches up to the headline acts with sets crafted solely on wax… No wonder why she got invited to play a session for boiler room in the London studio... Now that you have an idea of what you to expect, feel free to join us!!
